The two men are posed in mirror stances of each other. We can see the lead punch (or jab) of each, as they're crossed in the middle, and the cross punch of the back hand soon to follow. Notice that they're dressed similarly.

Either their dominant hands are different (one being a righty and the other being a lefty) or they were accommodating the photographer.

We don't know if this tintype is right-reading or laterally-reversed as tintypes were made both ways.

HOUSING. Full case with a new spine.

SIZE. The case and parts are sixth plate size, made to hold images that are 3 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches. The tintype is slightly smaller than that, at approximately 3 1/4 x 2 3/8 inches.

CONDITION. Many bends. Surprisingly little surface wear.

APPEARANCE. Very good contrast. Excellent posing.
