BLACKSMIH  vPLUS HIS WIFE.

Superb portrait of a blacksmith bracing a tinted horseshoe on the anvil with one hand and holding a hammer with the other. Note that his sleeves are red and his jewelery has been highlighted with gold.
The woman, presumably his wife, fills the frame and looks right at us wearing a bright plaid dress.

HOUSING
Ninth plate double case with mother of pearl inlay is approximately 3 x 2 1/2 x 3/4 of an inch.
Case has some wear.
The back is heavily damaged.
Inside velvets are very good and vibrant blue.
CONDITION
Blacksmith: Very good to excellent.
Some striations in the upper right.
Small little spot to the right of the horseshoe.
Wife: Very good to excellent.
The gold gilding on her ring has 'bled.'
APPEARANCE
Blacksmith: Excellent contrast, masterfully composed, great color, very bright plate.
Wife: Excellent contrast, extra vivid colors, bright plate.
SIZE
Daguerreotypes are ninth plate size (approximately 2 1/2 x 2 inches each).
