CIVIL WAR OFFICERS SHARPENING SWORDS

These officers are sharpening their swords, an activity rarely depicted in any photography at that time. The soldier on the right made sure he kept the sword still for posterity. We’re so lucky! No maker indicated.

CONDITION
Left side: Spots and specks. Right side: Spots and specks. A thin mark at upper left. The cluster of thin marks at lower left may be in the negative or processing, though they are not on the other side. Lower left corner no longer affixed to mount. Mount: Clipped corners. Wear around edges. Soiling, front and back.
APPEARANCE
  Very good tones and details. Great lighting. Fantastic composition. A rare scene, superb content!
