THE LINCOLN & LEE STORE AT TEMPLETON MASSACHUSETTS
The book ‘List of Post Offices in the United States – 1851’ lists Addison J. Lincoln as Postmaster for Templeton. Colonel Artemus Lee was the owner of this building in the mid nineteenth century. Supposedly, this building still exists.
This may have served as a waystop or inn as there are people in many of the windows. It was common, at the time, for buildings like this to have multiple businesses.
The woman over on the porch, the women in the windows, the signage, and the men standing at front makes for lots of activity.
