SKULL OF ST. STEPHEN STEREOVIEW $250. USD
This tilted skull, wearing a religious hat, is certainly a jarring sight. From the "Scenes of the Orient" series by Edward L. Wilson of Philadelphia. Blindstamped twice (at lower right of left side and at lower left of right side) with: "WILSON 1882 COPYRIGHTED." Handwritten on the back, in pencil: "Skull of St. Stephen."
SIZE. Approximately 4 1/4 x 7 inches.
CONDITION. Left side: Dark coloring on the top portion of right edge, perhaps someone was trying to cover up missing emulsion. Spots and a few dark marks. Right side: Spots and a couple of dark marks. Mount: Wear at corners, a bit of wear around edges. Soiling on back.
APPEARANCE. Left side has good tones and details, and the white cap is bright. Right side has fair to good tones. Nice composition with the other skulls in the background.
