This photograph straddles folk art and photography and it also excels in presentation with the sparkling shiny mat.

Their lace collars have been embellished with ornamental designs in white paint. The two older girls wear dark dresses with vertical highlights. The middle child wears a brown dress. The older two girls wear leggings, the first with horizontal stripes and the second accented with silver sparkles.

The girl at left looks right at us. The littlest child let her eyes wander. The last child is looking up which prompted one viewer to surmise that she must be blind. (We don't lean either way on that matter.)

HOUSING. Impressive OGEE frame.

SIZE. We have not taken this apart, and will not be taking it apart. The frame is approximately 14 x 11 7/8 x 2 1/4 inches. The opening in the front of the frame (the visible portion of the mat) is approximately 9 3/8 x 7 3/8 inches. The opening in the mat (the visible portion of the tintype) is approximately 7 3/8 x 5 3/8 inches.

CONDITION. Tintype: Again, we have not taken this apart. From what we can see: very good condition. Frame: As seen in the scans.

APPEARANCE. Folk art style. A magnificent one-of-a-kind item!
