The woman wears a hair accessory, necklace, chain brooch, and striped belt. She holds a book in one hand and rests the other hand on the table. There's a small glass vase filled with tinted flowers... there's one dark flower in there, so I wonder if it signifies a recent death.

SIZE. Sixth plate.

HOUSING. Appropriate (likely original) 1840s case. Tape on the spine.

CONDITION. Ding at the top. Two spots of orange where color has migrated. Mold spiders (a misnomer as it's actually particles of glass) in the upper portion. Some oxidation to periphery. Old glass replaced with hand-cut, high-quality borosilicate glass by Derek French. Resealed.

APPEARANCE. Great tonal range. Strong 1840s portrait.
