In most copies of this book, there are six antique albumen photographs. However, in this copy, there are only five. One photo is missing (page has been taken out) and has been replaced by a reproduction. Please see the details below.

Cover page: "THE LAST MEN OF THE REVOLUTION. A Photograph of Each from Life, TOGETHER WITH VIEWS OF THEIR HOMES PRINTED IN COLORS. Accompanied by brief Biographical Sketches of the Men, BY REV. E. B. HILLARD. HARTFORD, CONN. Published by N. A. & R. A. MOORE. 1864."

The book features biographical sketches of six survivors of the Revolutionary War, who were still alive in the 1860s. The men: Samuel Downing, Daniel Waldo, Lemuel Cook, Alexander Millener, William Hutchings, and Adam Link.

This edition also features photographs of the six survivors and hand-colored lithographs of their homes.

Each of the photos and lithographs is guarded with tissue paper.

PLEASE NOTE. The first five photos are original albumens. The sixth and last photo, of Adam Link, is on a loose 20th century page and is a reproduction. The original page and photo are missing.

There is mention at the end of the book of James Barham, but there is no photo or lithograph, just text. An excerpt: "Endeavor has been made to find him and procure his photograph and a sketch of his life, but thus far without success. As no intelligence, however, has been received at the Pension Office of his death, the hope may be indulged that he is still living."
