Hand-colored Civil War era stereoview with text on the back: "THE MAJESTY AND BEAUTY OF NIAGARA. No. 1957. THE FALLS, FROM POINT VIEW, AMERICAN SIDE. PUBLISHED BY E. & H. T. ANTHONY & CO. American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium, 501 Broadway, New York."

TAX STAMP. There is an orange, 2 cent, George Washington U.S. Inter Rev. Proprietary tax stamp affixed to the back. Tax stamps were affixed to photographs from 1864 - 1866 to support the Union effort during the American Civil War.

SIZE. Approximately 3 3/16 x 6 5/8 inches.

CONDITION. Both sides: Some soiling. A few spots. Mount: Wear around edges and at corners. Some soiling and scuffing on front and back. Tax stamp: Missing upper left corner.

APPEARANCE. Masterful coloring. Lovely composition. A beautiful stereoview.
