Here is a family's likeness of their deceased child. I'm sure they were grieving when they engaged the photographer.
It was suggested by two prominent dealers of 19th century photography that this could be by Southworth & Hawes. We are not claiming it is. However, note the silvered back, thin mat, old and perhaps original seals, convex glass, and black push-button case. Whether it is by S&H or not, it's definitely by an elite maker.

CONDITION. Old or original seals. Heavy tarnish on the perimeter. Very good condition.
APPEARANCE. Very good contrast. Strong composition.
