The girl holds the cat in a way that shows us they trust each other. The girl looks up above us, with her mouth slightly pursed. The cat closed his or her eyes. There's a lovely painted scene behind.
The girl is identified by handwriting on the back: "Mavis Genevieve Garrar (?) 6 years old May 26 1894 This was taken Aug after."

SIZE. Approximately 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches.
CONDITION. Photo: Spots and small marks. When tilted, scuffing is apparent. Mount: Wear at lower left corner, light wear at other 3 corners. Soiling and foxing on front and back.
APPEARANCE. Masterful lighting. Bright with rich tones. Very good contrast. Very good details.
